Note : This question paper has been divided into 3 parts - Part A, Part B and Part C. All parts are compulsory. You have to attempt all questions from Part A, any five questions from Part B and any two questions from Part C. 

PART A 

All questions are compulsory. Explain in brief 10x2=20 

1. Duty of Police to prevent custodial violence 

2. Democratic policing 

3. Power of the Police to investigate 

4. Mulla Committee 

5. Free legal aid 

6. Court of Session 

7. Public Prosecutor 

8. Seizure of property 

9. Forensic Science 

10. Fingerprint Bureau 

PART B 

Answer any five of the following questions in not more than 300 words each. 5x10=50 

11. Write a note on custodial violence and police torture in India. 

12. Explain the concept of community policing. 

13. Discuss the duties of police in maintenance of law and order. 

14. Discuss the recommendations of All India Committee on jail reforms. 

15. Discuss the concept of leave and special leave in prison administration. 

16. Discuss the Right to Speedy Trial with the help of decided cases. 

17. Discuss the judicial discretion in sentencing. 

18. Discuss the law relating to opinion of experts. 

PART C 

Answer any two of the following questions in not more than 450 words each : 2x15=30 

19. Distinguish between arrest and custody. Discuss constitutional parameters regarding protection of arrested persons. Support your answer with the help of decided cases. 

20. Discuss the aims and objects of the Prisons Act, 1894. Critically examine the Legislation in the context of present day scenario. 

21. What do you understand by the court system ? Discuss statutory provisions relating to establishment of criminal courts in India and their statutory authority to pass sentences. 

22. What do you understand by forensic pathology ? What is the significance of medico-legal post-mortem and its evidentiary value ? Support your answer with the help of statutory provisions.
