1. Why altemators are rated in kVA not in kW?

3. What are the causes of changes in voltage of altemators when loaded?
4. What does hunting of synchronous motor mean?
5. Define slip of an induction motor.
6. What is induction generator?
7. Is it possible to add an external resistance in the rotor circuit of a cage induction motor? Justify your answer.
8. Mention the methods to change the speed of an induction motor.
9. Why the single‘phase induction motors are not self Starting one?
10. Mention the applications of stepper motor.

17. A slip-ring induction motor runs at 290 rpm at full load when connected to 50 HZ supply. Determine the number of poles and slip. Assume Ns = 300 rpm.
18, How would you reverse the direction of rotation of a capacitor start-induction run motor?
19. Define the term step angle in stepper motor.
20. Mention the application of switched reluctance motor.
