1. Answer the following [12 x 1 = 12M]
a) Mention the different types of electrical tachometers.
b) What is a digital transducer?
c) What is the principle of seismic accelerometer?
d) What are the different techniques to measure vibration?
e) What is absolute humidity?
f) What is a rotameter?
g) What are the measurement techniques to measure moisture?
h) What is the principle of capillary tube viscometer?
i) How do you measure consistency?
j) What is thermocouple gauge?
k) Define vibration.
l) What is specific gravity?

UNIT - I [1 x 12 = 12M]

2. a) Describe the speed measurement using reluctance pick up. Also give the advantages and disadvantages of this type measurement.
2. b) Explain the working of strain gauge accelerometer. (OR)
3. a) Discuss in detail the working of capacitive vibration sensor.
3. b) Explain the measurement of velocity using electromagnetic transducer.

UNIT - II [1 x 12 = 12M]

4. a) Explain how vacuum gauges are used for the measurement of pressure.
4. b) Explain in detail about torque measurement using strain gauge torque transducer. (OR)
5. a) Explain the measurement of force using piezo- electric load cell.
5. b) Explain in detail about the principle and operation of torque measurement by using an electrical method with a neat sketch.

UNIT - III [1 x 12 = 12M]

6. a) Explain the construction and principle of operation of venturi tube for the measurement of flow.
6. b) Discuss the different methods of level measurement and explain in detail about radiation level sensor. (OR)
7. a) Describe the construction, working and theory of electromagnetic flow meter for flow measurement.
7. b) Mention the non electrical methods of level measurement and describe in detail any one of them.

UNIT - IV [1 x 12 = 12M]

8. a) Explain in detail the saybolt viscometer and compare it with a rotameter type viscometer.
8. b) Define humidity and how relative humidity is measured by using hygrometer. (OR)
9. a) Explain in detail the principle and operation of a psychometer in comparison with a hygrometer.
9. b) Discuss about buoyancy density meter.
