How to apply online for RTE Schools in Mumbai for 2016-2017 academic year

Are you going to have your child admitted to a school in Maharashtra? Want to use 25% of RTE quota ? Every year, admissions will be done under RTE quota in Govt and other schools in the state of Maharashtra. RTE stands for Right to Education (RTE) Act. The Government of Maharashtra have notified that all Govt schools and all unaided non-minority schools should admit students from economically weaker sections under a 25% quota at their entry level. Such students should be given free education till they complete atleast 8th standard. Eligibility Criteria for schools admissions under RTE quota in Mumbai as well as other cities:
Children from Disadvantaged Groups such as Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes
PH Students who are suffering from 40% or more disability
Children from Economically Weaker Sections such as Vimukta Jati Nomadic Tribes (VJNT), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Special Backward Class (SBC)
Children from poor families (the annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh)

Documents to be submitted for admissions under RTE quota:
The documents required for the children who are from disadvantaged groups are:
1. Birth certificate
2. Proof of residence: Any of the following

  • UID Aadhar Card
  • Passport
  • Election Photo Identity Card
  • Electricity Bill
  • Telephone Bill
  • Water Bill
  • A house tax receipt
  • A driving license issued by the competent authority in the name of the parents/guardians
3. Caste certificate issued by concerned Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) or Deputy Collector, in the name of child or parent.


4. The disability certificate issued by Civil Surgeon/ Superintendent of Government notified hospitals in case of disabled children (CWSN) with disability more than 40%.

5. Recent Passport Size Color Photograph of Child

The following documents are required for the children from economically weaker sections
1. Birth certificate.
2. Proof of residence as stated above
3. Income certificate issued by the Revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
4. Recent Passport Size Color Photograph of Child

How to apply / Application procedure:
Visit the official website of RTE which is https://rte25admission.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal/users/login
Register yourself by clicking on the link "New Registration". You will get registration ID / Application ID and password through your registered mobile number
Now login with your application ID and password
Fill-up all the details of your child and the details of the parents(s)
Select school and the required standard for your child
Upload all the required documents mentioned above.
Verify twice your details you entered in your application. If any correction needed, do it.
Take a print of it for future reference.

Selection process for RTE admissions:
Generally, all applicants will be given admission to the schools they opt if the school has enough seats, Otherwise, a lottery system will be followed to admit children. There is no fee included in this admission process. The list of selected candidates will be published online, and you can know the status using your application ID you generated during applying. You should then take a print of your child admit card and approach the school to process further regarding RTE admissions.
