1 What are the major recommendations of Nagpur road plan? Also give the differences between the Bombay road development plan and Nagpur plan giving the equations suggested for computation of different categories of roads.

2 Explain about the following:
(a) Camber.
(b) Design speed.
(c) Transition curves.
(d) Extra widening.

3 How many types of speeds are used in the traffic analysis? Explain each of them and give their importance. Also explain how the speed data can be represented graphically.

4 What are the basic objectives of providing traffic signs? Explain how the road safety can be improved by making use of various types of traffic signs by giving suitable examples.

5 (a) Explain the following with suitable diagrams:
(i) Merging conflict (ii) Diverging conflict (iii) Crossing conflict (iv) Conflict area
(b) Explain the advantages of grade separation with interchange compared to the at-grade intersections.

6 (a) What are the design factors to be considered while designing a pavement structure? Discuss.
(b) Explain about the temperature stresses in rigid pavements.

7 (a) Explain about the turning radius of the aircraft and discuss how it influences the taxi way design.
(b) Give a typical layout of a single runway airport showing all the components.

8 What are the various corrections to be applied to standard runway to obtain the actual length of a runway? Explain.
